Bling Bling for Da Lamp

Got a set of these cute lamps for our bedsides for $20 bucks each from Tuesday Morning. Perfect...
Well, not quite.
Before and After

Monogrammed Plate

A sad plate from our old dinnerware set...
Was this plate ever even pretty??
A printer, microsoft word, some contact paper, a craft knife and a some white spray paint....
oooh... Me likey!

The Shoe Shelter

THE PROBLEM
Shoes after the kids come inside invariably wind up in a pile by the door. I suppose I should be thankful they take their shoes off and usually am until I trip over those little dandies...
THE SOLUTION...this
Yes, this.
It's a heavy duty book shelf from A.C. Moore's on clearance for $35. Juding from all the inscribed so-and-so's wuz here and I heart Joe, it was originally a display shelf for pens. A pint of oil-based (I feel super proud of the oil-based) satin paint and so-and-so no longer has proof they were here!
Legs...

Some help from my incredibly handy Dad and WALAH! A cohesive home/bench for shoes.
Next step is to make a cushion for the top for added comfort for little booties while they putt on their shoes!

Bland Bathroom

Our master bath is so boring...so boring I won't even post a pic. Trying to slowly, I mean s-l-o-w-l-y but surely transform into a spa-like atmosphere without a major overhaul. Found these lovely orchids on sale for $6 each.

I think the bath screams now, "Come. Relax. The laundry will do itself."
Also, gave a little tlc to the half wall(?) over the shower.
Now if only I could get up the energy to snatch down that horrid wall border.

The Real Monster Garage

I wish I could count how many times we have said over the past 9 months since we've moved into this house, "Quick, close the garage." Or the instantaneous fear on my husband's face when I tell him so-and-so stopped by followed by his hopeful whisper, "Did they come through the garage?" I can speak about all this now, because it is morphing into what a garage actually should look like but just a few short hours ago, this was the monster I was dealing with!
Has anyone seen the dog?
Gross, huh? This looks like an episode of "Hoarders". Okay... that's the bad news. Drum roll, please......
Clearly this is still a work in progress and one 'I know it was in this box' shy of a disaster but at least it's an improvement!
BEFORE

AFTER
Small disclaimer: The mess in the corner is property of Phillip. It's in a nut shell his office from the old house. All camping/fishing gear is conveiniently located on top of the file cabinets.

Ding...Ding...Ding...In the right corner of the ring, we have cleaning, car and pet supplies. Also, easily accessible, outdoor toys, hand tools and gardening items. All bets are off as to how long these items stay in their respective homes!

Stay tuned for pics and progress of the "Mammoth in the Basement" and the "Mutant in the Closet."

Digging this nail polish

Pink sparkles...I think I'm still a 9 year old at heart...

Bathroom Focus - Organizing Bathroom

Finally getting around to organizing my makeup...Here's what we have so far...

Lipstick, eyeliners, shadow pods and tools

Makeup brushes suspended in Epson salt...makes for easy access
Foundations, lipliners and blush

My camera is way more truthful than my eyes because this looks gross but you get the idea. It is a folder keeper that I've stored my color palettes in. I'm off to get my magic eraser and clean that up!
More pics soon...

Gotta Love a Deal

Got this chunk of a necklace at It's Fashion! L-o-v-e it....

"Pic-o-crap"

Found lots of knick knacks lying around the house, spray painted black and hot glued to this white canvas.

My hope for this blog

My hope is that this blog will act as sort of an accountability partner for me...me, the perpetual project hopper and hopeless hopeful procrastinator.
